Matte Blvck Unveils New Single “Pupula Duplex” and Teases Upcoming Album “Vows”

Industrial/Darkwave band Matte Blvck has recently released their latest single, “Pupula Duplex,” showcasing their hard-hitting club-industrial sound while pushing the boundaries of dark electronic music. Inspired by acts like The Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin, and The Prodigy from the ’90s “big beat” era, “Pupula Duplex” combines these influences with modern, aggressive production, creating an innovative addition to Matte Blvck’s musical repertoire.

The band’s upcoming album, titled “Vows,” is set to be released this summer. It promises to explore new territories while maintaining the signature industrial/darkwave tone that Matte Blvck is known for. “Vows” features a blend of slow valleys of sunlight, airy guitars, chorus-drenched basslines, and pop hooks, making it potentially their heaviest work to date. The album’s theme and title, “Vows,” represent a commitment to prioritizing their art and supporting each other amid inner turmoil, keeping their 27-year-long friendship intact. Matte Blvck’s ability to create art through complexity and reconciliation showcases their unwavering confidence in the face of a world in turmoil.

Throughout the album, Matte Blvck collaborated with an exceptionally talented 3-piece production team, including Aaron Short and Matt Mcjunkins. Aaron Short, a Grammy-nominated Producer/Mixer known for his work with The Naked and Famous, Madison Beer, Boy Boy, and So Below, utilized his exceptional mixing skills to create moments of bliss amidst the harsh mechanical-tinged beats and synths. Matt Mcjunkins, renowned for his contributions to A Perfect Circle, Poppy, and Puscifer, led a recording session that allowed the band to reconnect with their love for live instruments. The meticulous experimentation with different guitars, basses, amps, and pedals in an analog environment resulted in the perfect sound, showcasing their unwavering commitment to perfection.

Despite the absence of a label, management, or representation, Matte Blvck has managed to rapidly grow their audience and sell out shows. This achievement speaks volumes about their unwavering confidence and determination. The band expresses their desire to work with a large label to propel them to new heights. They are confident that they are on the rise, forming a legacy that will leave an indelible mark in an ever-evolving music industry.
