Sam Fender and Olivia Dean Break 73-Year U.K. Chart Record

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have officially etched their names into British music history as their acclaimed collaboration “Rein Me In” becomes the longest-running No. 1 single in U.K. chart history, spending an unprecedented 19 consecutive weeks atop the Official Singles Chart.

The milestone sees the pair surpass the legendary Frankie Laine, whose 1953 classic “I Believe” held the record for more than seven decades with an 18-week reign at No. 1.

Reacting to the historic achievement, Sam Fender shared his gratitude, saying, “Completely lost for words, thank you so much to Olivia Dean and the fans for making this song the juggernaut that it is. Can’t believe we broke the U.K. record!”

The chart milestone adds to an already remarkable journey for “Rein Me In.” Originally released on June 20, 2025, the song took 35 weeks to climb to No. 1, setting a new record for the longest ascent to the top of the U.K. Singles Chart. Since reaching the summit in February, it has also become Sam Fender’s first-ever U.K. No. 1 single and the only song in Official Chart history to return to No. 1 four separate times during the same chart run.

The celebration continued over the weekend when Olivia Dean delivered a surprise moment during her headline performance at Lollapalooza Chicago. Performing on the T-Mobile Stage on August 1, Dean stunned festivalgoers by bringing Sam Fender on stage for a live rendition of “Rein Me In,” prompting one of the festival’s biggest singalongs.

Before introducing Fender, Dean reflected on the song’s remarkable chart success and thanked fans for their continued support, noting that the record-breaking achievement came just days before the festival performance.

The collaboration has resonated with audiences through its heartfelt songwriting, soaring melodies, and the undeniable chemistry between Fender and Dean, becoming one of the defining records of the past year.

With its historic chart run still ongoing and unforgettable live performances continuing to captivate audiences, “Rein Me In” has firmly secured its place as one of the most successful and culturally significant singles in U.K. chart history.
