“The song was inspired by my own experience of navigating change over the past year and learning to trust my instinct to follow what feels right, even when it’s scary,” Olivia explains. “Fault Line is really about that pull towards the unknown, standing on the edge of something bigger and hearing a quiet inner voice that keeps guiding you forward, even when you can’t see exactly where it’s leading. It sits in that space between excitement and fear, in that moment before change where everything feels uncertain but full of possibility at the same time.”
Growing up in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Olivia’s musical journey began at an early age, surrounded by creativity through her father, acclaimed Australian musician and actor Darren Coggan. From spending childhood afternoons backstage at theatres to developing a passion for songwriting during high school, music has always been central to her life.
Her artistic development was further nurtured through a talent development program before being mentored by celebrated Australian country icon Kasey Chambers, while her brother Gabe Coggan has remained a close creative collaborator, producing visuals across her growing catalogue.
Drawing inspiration from artists including Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, and John Mayer, Olivia has steadily built an impressive résumé, sharing stages with Missy Higgins, Boy & Bear, The Dreggs, and Kim Churchill, while also performing alongside acts including Sons of the East, Pacific Avenue, and Matt Corby. Her music has also earned national support from triple j and NOVA.
Reflecting on her relationship with music, Olivia says, “I think music goes much deeper than just a catchy tune. It’s a universal language and something that has always been there for me. Music gives me purpose and a voice to speak up and connect. With things like AI fast-tracking the creative process, I think it’s really sad. I don’t know anyone who wants to skim over the creating part, that’s where the joy is for me.”
To celebrate the release of Fault Line, Olivia will embark on a run of intimate Australian headline shows with her full band next month, giving fans their first opportunity to experience a collection of brand-new material live. The tour will visit Melbourne, Wollongong, and Sydney, promising emotional performances built around authenticity, connection, and honest songwriting.
“I wanted to create a show that brings people together to feel something real,” Olivia shares. “My goal is always to create a space where people can step out of whatever is happening in their lives and simply be present for one night of music.”
