Emerging pop artist Nissu has unveiled his highly anticipated debut EP, Memories, a deeply personal and emotionally resonant collection of songs that reflect his journey. Drawing inspiration from pop icons like Katy Perry and collaborating with renowned producer Trey Vittetoe (Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez), Nissu has crafted a sound that is both fresh and timeless. With its themes of friendship, love, resilience, and self-discovery, Memories is an open diary set to music, inviting listeners to explore their own stories alongside Nissu’s evocative storytelling.
The EP opens with “U,” a heartfelt ode to her friend Jéssica Delgado. “I wrote U when I was 17 after my friend Jéssica Delgado told me she was moving to the capital. Before leaving she said: ‘I wish I could put you in a box to take wherever I go” “The song is about how to deal with this feeling, and living abroad and away from a lot of my friends and family It feels still so relatable to me and I hope people can relate to it as well.” The track sets the tone for the project with its lush production and emotive vocals, showcasing Nissu’s ability to blend personal narrative with universal themes.

This is followed by “Connection,” a standout track that reflects on the bonds formed during the pandemic. “Connection” was inspired by the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, where outdoor activities were limited to walks within a 5km radius. Nissu observed how social media became a platform for sharing experiences, with many people posting selfies from their walks. The accompanying music video, featuring nine LGBTQ+ influencers from the UK, celebrates unity, strength, and inclusivity, further amplifying the song’s message of resilience and solidarity.
“Yourself,” featuring UK rapper Paigey Cakey, is an empowering anthem that encourages self-love and authenticity. The collaboration adds a dynamic edge to the EP, with Paigey Cakey’s verses complementing Nissu’s smooth vocals and the track’s uplifting message. The title track, “Memories,” is a nostalgic reflection on Nissu’s teenage years and the moments that have shaped him. Its introspective lyrics and melodic hooks make it a standout moment on the EP.
“In My Heart” and “Forever Mine” round out the project, delving into themes of love, loss, and personal growth. Each track is a testament to Nissu’s ability to craft songs that are both deeply personal and universally relatable. The production, helmed by Trey Vittetoe, is polished yet retains an emotional rawness that allows Nissu’s storytelling to shine.
Nissu’s music videos, featuring a diverse cast including Harry Potter actress Afshan Azad and UK television personalities like David Potts and India Willoughby, add another layer of depth to the EP. These visuals celebrate inclusivity and representation, aligning with Nissu’s mission to create music that resonates with a wide audience.
As Nissu explains, “I wanted Memories to feel like an open diary, a collection of moments that shaped me. Some songs were written years ago, others more recently, but they all tell a story that I hope resonates with people.” This authenticity is evident in every track, making Memories a deeply moving and relatable listening experience.
Nissu’s Memories EP is a heartfelt and beautifully crafted debut that showcases his talent as a songwriter, vocalist, and storyteller. With its lush production, candid lyrics, and themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery, the EP is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates music that speaks to the heart. Nissu is an artist to watch, and Memories is proof that his star is on the rise.
