Sometimes finding your own direction means leaving an old version of yourself behind. Dublin-based singer-songwriter Lex Bucha explores that turning point on his latest single, Faithless (Sacrifice), a sleek and shadowy release that turns personal conflict into a bold piece of indie pop.
Known offstage as Alexander Keech, Lex has been steadily building his identity as an artist after years of writing for other performers across Europe. His journey into releasing music under his own name began in 2024 with a duet alongside his friend and frequent collaborator Orla Monelle, eventually leading to his debut EP Painless Mode in July 2025.
Now, Faithless (Sacrifice) feels like another step forward. The track blends pop, R&B, and electronic elements into a polished production that carries plenty of atmosphere without losing its melodic appeal. There is a coolness to the sound, but underneath it sits a very personal story.
At its heart, the song is about reaching the point where you stop living according to someone else’s expectations. Inspired by real experiences in Lex’s life, Faithless (Sacrifice) looks at the decision to reject people who have wronged you and take control of your own path. Rather than simply sitting with the hurt, Lex plays with the idea of embracing the villain and turning the situation around.
That attitude gives the single its edge. Pulsing electronic sounds drive the track forward, while smooth R&B touches add a controlled confidence to the performance. The darker production creates an almost cinematic atmosphere, with shades of the moody pop associated with The Weeknd, while still fitting comfortably within Lex’s own musical world.
There is also something interesting about the contrast between the song’s polished sound and the conflict behind it. Faithless (Sacrifice) is not simply about betrayal. It is about what happens when frustration becomes a catalyst for change. Lex takes an experience rooted in disappointment and transforms it into a statement about choosing a different direction.
His influences also help explain the track’s sound. Drawing inspiration from artists including Sombr, HURTS, The Weeknd and Lauv, Lex brings together emotive songwriting with atmospheric production, creating a style that sits naturally within the indie pop space.
The timing of the release makes it even more significant. Faithless (Sacrifice) serves as the final single ahead of Lex’s upcoming EP Dark Mode, scheduled for September 24. The project will also feature Paranoid and new material exploring themes of betrayal, darkness, and giving in to inner demons.
For an artist who has already made his mark behind the scenes as a songwriter, Faithless (Sacrifice) puts Lex Bucha firmly at the centre of his own story. His experience writing for others is clearly part of the foundation, but this release shows an artist becoming increasingly comfortable with expressing his own perspective.
With airplay from BBC Introducing, RTE Pulse, TodayFM and Spin, Lex is already gaining attention for his songwriting. Faithless (Sacrifice) adds another intriguing piece to that journey, pairing a darker emotional subject with a polished, modern sound.
There is a sense that Lex is no longer simply stepping into the spotlight. He is deciding exactly what he wants to do once he gets there.
