London-born artist Jay Prince returns with his latest single, ‘Solitude,’ featuring Grammy-winning singer Estelle and renowned US rapper Oddisee. The introspective track offers a soulful meditation on self-reflection, resilience, and finding peace amidst life’s challenges.
A standout from his upcoming album ‘Shine’ (out May 16), ‘Solitude’ was conceived during Jay’s transformative years in Los Angeles (2016–2020). The track came to life after Daniel Kaluuya introduced him to Estelle, best known for her iconic hit ‘American Boy’ with Kanye West. With her signature smooth, timeless vocals, Estelle adds a heartfelt depth to the song, while Oddisee—known for his jazz-inflected beats and socially conscious lyrics—brings his signature lyrical finesse, making ‘Solitude’ a compelling blend of Hip-Hop, Soul, and Jazz.
Jay’s time in LA profoundly shaped his artistry. Beyond music, he has directed thought-provoking visuals, collaborated with fashion designers like Tokyo James, and curated immersive artistic experiences. Recently, he partnered with Nowness to document his emotional journey to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, where he reconnected with his roots and captured the essence of everyday life in a powerful photo series.
