ellipse Unveils Debut Single ‘Poison’

Electronic music artist ellipse has made a powerful return to the music scene with her debut track, “Poison,” marking a symbolic new beginning and a reflective ode to her past. Known for her ethereal soundscapes and innovative production, ellipse’s latest release is a captivating blend of electronic textures and dark-pop musings. Fans of FKA Twigs, Bonobo, Ayra Starr, and Björk will find familiar elements in ellipse’s unique sonic world, where she merges raw vocals with minimalist production to create a deeply personal and resonant atmosphere.

Inspired by a transformative month spent recording music with indigenous tribes in the Panamanian jungle, “Poison” reflects on the universal struggle of internal darkness. “No matter how beautiful your escape destination is, the darkness actually comes from within,” ellipse explains. The track is infused with the organic vulnerability and rhythmic playfulness she encountered in the jungle, as she intertwines these influences with her electronic roots. The result is a haunting yet mesmerizing exploration of the shadows that linger within us all.

Formerly known as ill-esha, ellipse has been a pioneering figure in the electronic music world since the 90s, having performed at major festivals like Coachella and Shambhala and sharing a compilation with the likes of Sigur Rós and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Despite her success in electronic beats and drops, she felt drawn toward more intimate and introspective sounds. “The dance floor didn’t seem quite the right place to share the more intimate, dark-pop musings growing in my core,” she reveals. With the launch of ellipse, she embarks on a bold new chapter, shedding her past and embracing a fresh sonic direction.

“Poison” is the first track from ellipse’s upcoming debut album, which will be told in three chapters—past, present, and future. This project signals the artist’s journey of self-discovery, as she weaves through light and shadow to find warmth and presence. The album is poised to offer listeners an immersive experience into ellipse’s evolving world, where organic textures meet futuristic soundscapes and personal revelations shape her new artistic identity.
