Darling Nikki Drops Debut EP Hippie Soul

Independent artist Darling Nikki has officially released her debut EP, Hippie Soul, a fully self-written and self-produced body of work that introduces listeners to an artist driven by creativity, freedom, and a deep connection to authentic expression.

Blending soul, funk, and vintage pop with modern retro influences and warm analog production inspired by the sounds of the 1970s, Hippie Soul serves as a complete artistic statement rather than just a collection of songs. For Darling Nikki, the title represents more than a project name, it represents her identity and the philosophy that guides her artistry.

“I make Hippie Soul because I am a Hippie Soul,” she says.

Rooted in the values of the hippie movement, Düsseldorf, Germany’s Darling Nikki creates music centered around freedom, creativity, intuition, and emotional honesty. Across the EP, she explores themes of hope, faith, love, loss, healing, and inner freedom, transforming personal experiences into universal messages that connect with listeners on a deeper level.

“Music to me is far more than entertainment,” Darling Nikki explains. “It’s freedom, vibration, frequency and raw emotion, allowing something greater to move through me. It reconnects me with my soul.”

The project highlights Darling Nikki’s commitment to complete creative independence, with the artist handling every stage of the process, from songwriting and production to the final mix. That hands-on approach allows Hippie Soul to capture her vision exactly as intended, creating an intimate and authentic listening experience.

Adding to the EP’s unique identity is its international foundation, featuring musicians and engineers from Brazil, Turkey, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Together, they help bring the project’s fusion of groove, soul, and vintage-inspired sound to life, reflecting the global perspective that has shaped Darling Nikki’s career.

A lifelong musician from a musical family, Darling Nikki has built a remarkable journey that has taken her beyond Germany’s borders. She has shared stages with legendary performers including Dionne Warwick and Larry Graham of Sly Stone and Prince fame, while also appearing on television and earning international recognition for her work.

Leading the EP is the cinematic single “Stay,” a powerful record that combines the warmth of classic Motown with the dramatic atmosphere of 1960s film scores. Recorded entirely live and through analog methods, the song features sweeping strings, powerful horns, and an emotionally charged story of love, longing, and vulnerability.

“For all I ever wanted is to be with you, this truth I can’t deny, it’s written in the books, I’m yours, you’re mine, stay,” Darling Nikki sings, capturing the emotional core of the project.

The accompanying music video for “Stay” expands the song’s nostalgic world, filmed against the breathtaking Capo Testa rock formations in Sardinia. Inspired by retro comic book aesthetics and 1960s science fiction, the visual presents Darling Nikki as the heroine of a vintage space-age story, matching the EP’s imaginative and timeless spirit.

“To me, music is emotion first,” she shares. “If a song doesn’t make you feel something, nothing else matters. Stay is about allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to say the words we sometimes wish we had said.”

Alongside “Stay,” Hippie Soul features “Elvis,” Darling Nikki’s debut single that earned attention from German radio and international media outlets, as well as “Time 2 Let Go” and “On The Other Side.” Each track contributes to a larger story built around self-discovery, emotional connection, and artistic freedom.

With the release of Hippie Soul, Darling Nikki invites listeners into a world where vintage soul meets modern expression, proving that authentic storytelling and timeless musicianship still have a place in today’s musical landscape.
