British rapper Central Cee added another major accolade to his rapidly growing collection on Thursday night, taking home the Best Hip Hop Act trophy at the 2026 MOBO Awards.
The win, announced during the ceremony held at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, recognises the West London artist’s consistency, cultural impact, and standout 2025 output. It marks his eighth MOBO Award overall, cementing his status as one of the most decorated figures in the history of the awards, which celebrate Black music and culture across the UK and Europe.
Central Cee, born Oakley Caesar-Su, has been a driving force in UK rap since breaking through in 2020 with drill tracks like “Loading” and “Day in the Life.” His melodic flows, sharp wordplay, and ability to blend drill, hip-hop, and mainstream appeal have propelled him from the underground to global stages.
The 2025 release of his long-awaited debut studio album, Can’t Rush Greatness, proved to be a career-defining moment. Dropped on January 24 via CC4L and Columbia Records, the project debuted at No. 1 on the UK Official Albums Chart, marking his second chart-topper following the 2023 mixtape 23. It also cracked the US Billboard 200 at No. 9, becoming the first UK rap album to reach the American top 10 in that manner.
Featuring high-profile collaborations with artists including Dave, Skepta, 21 Savage, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, and Young Miko, Can’t Rush Greatness delivered massive streaming numbers. It achieved the biggest Spotify debut for a hip-hop album of 2025, with over 19 million streams in its first day alone, while setting records for UK rap streaming.
Industry observers point to the album’s commercial dominance — outselling the rest of the top five combined in its opening week — and its critical reception as key factors in Central Cee’s latest recognition. His ability to maintain momentum through consistent releases, sold-out tours, and international collaborations has kept him at the forefront of the evolving UK rap scene.
The MOBO Awards continue to highlight excellence across genres, with other notable 2026 winners including Olivia Dean (who led with multiple victories), Raye for Video of the Year, and Ezra Collective in the jazz category. Central Cee’s win in the Best Hip Hop Act category — contested by strong contenders like Aitch, D-Block Europe, and Little Simz — underscores his dominance in the field.
At 27 years old, Central Cee shows no signs of slowing down. With a growing international fanbase, over 10 million monthly Spotify listeners at peaks, and a track record of breaking barriers for UK drill and hip-hop artists, this latest honour arrives as further validation of his trajectory.
