Speaking about the single, he shares, “This record perfectly captures the stylistic tug-of-war between reggae and R&B that is constantly at play in my head whenever I sit down at the piano to write. I knew I needed to take this soulful R&B groover somewhere different in the verses, and I opted to just flip it completely on its head into a one-drop reggae groove. I’m very grateful to my writing partner, Psydecar’s Tim Pacheco, for his expertise in bringing that drastic change to life. His drum performance on this song was critical to the success of that arrangement move.”
