Tape London, Mayfair’s most exclusive nightlife location, is paving the way for nightclubs in the post pandemic era. After nearly a third of nightclubs have closed their doors for good since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, Tape continues to thrive and grow thanks to their elite musical talents, as well as an opulent mix of privacy and exclusivity.
Founded in 2015, the club continues to grow from strength to strength, with plans for international expansion. Tape’s USP is ‘Soho House meets a new age Ministry Of Sound”, effortlessly blending a members only clientele with state of the art music and production.
Split between three rooms, Tape offers a unique experience for every kind of clubgoer. The nightclub itself gives members a distinctive space with some of the most talented artists and DJs both from the UK and the rest of the world, playing host to a wide range of A-List celebrities. Since its launch, Tape has hosted performances from some of the biggest global artists, including Drake, Travis Scott, Cardi B and many more. Elsewhere, Little Tape offers even more privacy and exclusivity, with a no camera policy and personalised access for the VIP experience.
The final room, which is described by Tape as ‘the jewel in the crown’ of the institution, is their recording studio. Making use of PMC QB1 XBD speakers in a soundproof room that blocks out the noise from the rest of the club, the venue has created a world class space where a plethora of the finest musical talent from the world over has managed to record. The studio has been the location for multiple chart topping records, with everyone from the late Pop Smoke and J Hus to Katy Perry and Justin Bieber recording there.
A studio space within the nightclub setting offers something completely different to Tape’s counterparts, allowing artists to enjoy their evening in the main club space before heading to the studio having been inspired by their time at the venue. This has also led to exclusive previews of tracks getting played in the club on the same night as they were recorded, giving other members the chance to experience the musician’s craft before anyone else. The club’s motto is ‘Everything Begins With Music’, putting their artistic expertise at the forefront of the business and creating in-house, high level tracks that have gone on to achieve international success.
The club and its founders have therefore managed to create a thriving business by carving out their own niche within the nightclub industry. With many in the sector feeling the after effects of different attitudes to going out after the pandemic, as well as the rising cost of living, Tape has bucked the trend and seen continued growth owing to their unmatched offering of state of the art music capabilities and an elite members list. With plans to expand Little Tape internationally, as well as brand partnerships with the likes of Team Delirium and Broken Planet, this is a destination that is firmly on the rise.
