Folk troubadour Shannon Hudson invites listeners to journey inward with his latest release, “Run Into The Arrows.” Known for his storytelling approach and timeless sound, Hudson creates a track filled with warmth, reflection, and his distinctive old-school charm. Inspired by a mix of life experiences and deep personal reflection, “Run Into The Arrows” explores the courage it takes to embrace vulnerability, both in love and life.
Hudson explains that the inspiration for “Run Into The Arrows” struck during training for a half-marathon. “They tell you to run facing traffic for safety, and I realized I was running directly into oncoming cars. I felt both exposed to danger and strong in my ability to protect myself.” This moment of clarity led him to pen lyrics that touch on the fear and resilience found in relationships, reflecting the song’s central theme: “The fearless show their vulnerability and run into the arrows.”
Drawing on his lifelong love of rock ‘n’ roll from the late ’50s and early ’60s, Hudson’s music echoes the essence of Americana, rooted in authenticity and simplicity. His influences, including Buddy Holly, Elvis, and Eddie Cochran (a cousin on his mother’s side), have long fueled his passion for creating music that’s as heartfelt as it is relatable. Hudson, a husband and father, finds joy in everyday moments — from floating in the pool with his wife to watching his son play baseball — moments he captures in his writing with a nostalgic reverence.
“My songs are about humanity’s shared experiences,” Hudson shares. “In a world that often feels disconnected, music allows us to remember who we are.”
