S.E: I’m a pop artist from North Wales making music for everyone.
You describe “Freaks” as a song about finally feeling free to be yourself. What personal experiences or emotions inspired you to write it?
S.E: The track is about inclusion and finally being free to be yourself. It’s a record born from self-discovery, one that captures the transformative moment when fear gives way to acceptance, and the search for belonging finally comes to an end.
You’ve said that “Freaks” feels like a creative breakthrough and a statement of intent. What do you feel has changed most in your music since your earlier releases?
S.E: I think knowing the difference between what I want to hear and what the audience wants to hear has been the most important change in my music. Learning how to properly give my listeners what they want is my ultimate goal.
Your music is known for soulful vocals and heartfelt storytelling. How do you balance emotional vulnerability with the contemporary indie-pop sound you’re developing?
S.E: You always have to stay true to yourself no matter what. It’s so important to be yourself, and the more emotional vulnerability you show, the more people listen to what you have to say. Being able to relate to people is important.
You’ve had your music featured on Spotify playlists such as Fresh Finds and New Pop UK. What does that kind of recognition mean to you at this stage of your career?
S.E: It has been amazing to be able to have access to these tools that help boost your career, and I was actually quite emotional as it’s a huge achievement for any artist to be added to these playlists, as they’re so difficult to get into.
“He Gave Me Nothing” won an International Music Video Award. Looking back, what did that achievement teach you about the visual side of your artistry?
S.E: Having amazing visuals is more important than I ever thought. Having a good video is the difference between you and the competition, and I’m going to make sure every release gets the video that it deserves, no matter the cost. I want everyone to be excited about the next video and look forward to seeing what I can do, and obviously the better the tracks do, the more money i will have to spend on the next.
“Freaks” is accompanied by a cinematic music video. What can you tell us about the visual concept and how it expands the story of the song?
S.E: The visuals for “Freaks” help tell the story; you see the whole process from the nerve-wracking beginning to the flourishing confidence I have at the end of the track. Plus, the dance is so fun to do; it was so hard to master, but it was worth all of the work put into that. Everyone who worked on that video was amazing.
You’re based in North Wales. How has your environment and upbringing influenced your songwriting, identity and perspective as an artist?
S.E: I don’t know if my environment or upbringing has specifically influenced my music, but I do think having a loving family and amazing friends around me has definitely helped with the confidence side of my work. Having great support from everyone around me is so rewarding and means so much.
You’ve said you genuinely believe in your music and that creating it is something you want to do full-time. What keeps you motivated to pursue that dream when the music industry can be unpredictable?
S.E: I have nearly given up so many times, and then something happens that makes me want to carry on. Hitting milestones that you could have only dreamed of at the start is so rewarding, and honestly, the people who love my music are why I continue to create and do what I do.
If “Freaks” represents the clearest expression of your artistic identity so far, what do you think listeners will understand about you after hearing it?
S.E: I believe listeners will be able to understand the process of being scared of something, then overcoming it. Everyone will go through this at some point, and knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that you’ll be ok is comforting.
What has this chapter of your career taught you about confidence, authenticity, and being comfortable with who you are?
S.E: In my opinion, you should never care what people think of you. Of course, you’ll have negative comments and people trying to put you down, but that’s just part of the job, unfortunately. This is the best piece of advice I could give anyone who asks what taught me confidence, and that’s to not care what people think of you.

S.E: I don’t know yet is the answer. So many things are happening at the moment, but keep an eye out; there will be loads of big things to come.
