Morgan Doctor Unveils “Saplings” – A Poignant New Single from Last Flight Home

Canadian-American composer and drummer Morgan Doctor releases her latest single, “Saplings,” the ninth track from her deeply personal and evocative album, Last Flight Home. A Juno and Dora-nominated artist, Morgan has built a remarkable career as a composer, live performer, and sought-after session drummer, collaborating with artists such as Andy Kim, Sandra Bernhard, Ron Sexsmith, and Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene).

With four critically acclaimed albums to her name, Morgan’s artistry spans film scoring, live performance, and studio recordings. Her work on director Ondi Timoner’s documentary Last Flight Home—which chronicles a family’s final moments with their patriarch—was not only a professional endeavor but a deeply personal one. Having lived through the film’s experiences alongside Timoner, Morgan crafted a score that captures both the sorrow and beauty of life’s final transition.

“Saplings” carries the emotional weight of that journey, weaving ethereal textures and evocative soundscapes to reflect themes of memory, loss, and the passage of time. The track underscores Morgan’s ability to transform raw emotion into sonic landscapes that resonate deeply with listeners.

Morgan’s work has been featured on David Letterman, CNN, MTV’s Total Request Live, and Craig Ferguson, further solidifying her reputation as an innovative and versatile artist.
