After a two-year hiatus, Lil Baby is making waves with his return to the spotlight. With one album already out this year, WHAM (Who Hard As Me), and another, Dominique, on the way, it seems the Atlanta rap superstar isnât slowing down. Now, fans may have yet another reason to celebrate: Lil Baby has teased a potential joint project with Futureâand possibly Young Thug.
In a recent episode of Spotifyâs Day In The Life, Lil Baby revealed that he and Future were collaborating on a joint tape, an idea originally suggested by Young Thug during his incarceration. Now that Thug has been released, heâs ready to join the project.
âMe and Future was working on a joint tape,â Lil Baby shared while getting his hair retwisted. âNow, Slime came home⊠you know he ainât goinâ for that. He like, âSh*t.â Itâs actually Thugâs idea. When he was in jail, he was like, âCall Pluto, I want yâall to do a tape together.ââ
Fans got a taste of what this powerhouse collaboration might sound like on the track âDum, Dumb & Dumberâ from WHAM, which features all three artists. However, this isnât the first time the trio has been linked to a joint project. Previously, they were reportedly working on Super Slimey 2, a follow-up to Future and Thugâs 2017 tape, alongside YSL member Gunna. Those plans were derailed when Thug and Gunna faced racketeering charges in late 2021.
While Gunna has since pleaded guilty and received an early release, his relationships with many Atlanta collaborators, including Lil Baby, appear strained. Thug, who pleaded âno contestâ to racketeering and âguiltyâ to firearm possession, seems to have mended ties with his peers and is back in action.
Interestingly, a recent post from producer Southside hinted that Super Slimey 2 could still be in the works. Whether this is the same âjoint tapeâ Lil Baby and Future are developing or a separate project remains to be seen.
One thing is certain: fans of Lil Baby, Future, and Young Thug are in for a treat. With their combined talent and chemistry, any project featuring this trio is bound to be a monumental moment in trap music.
