But who is Lerocque? Lerocque, born as Pedro Rodrigues in Portugal, emigrated with his parents to Switzerland in the 90s. He’s a tireless vocalist who fearlessly explores musical genre boundaries. Lerocque’s infectious optimism is evident in his cheerful nature, and he has a fondness for playfully flipping the middle finger in family photos.
Growing up in an immigrant family, Lerocque spent a lot of time in front of the TV, immersing himself in the worlds of Disney’s “The Lion King” and “Star Wars,” as well as the virtual universes of games like “Zelda” and “Final Fantasy.” It was the music in these experiences that deeply touched him and sparked his interest in creating music himself.
Years later, after a failed attempt to start a zoo (let’s not dwell on that), Lerocque decided to pursue his dream of being in a band and found the group “One Day Remains” through an online ad. He faced financial struggles but persevered, even taking some unconventional paths to scrape together the funds for recording studio sessions. It was during this time that he also met his future wife, who happened to be one of the victims of his questionable ventures. But fate had its plans, and they ended up together.
Despite the fulfilling role as the lead singer of a band, Lerocque always yearned for something completely his own, something intoxicating and ultra-cool. However, there was one hurdle: While gaming taught him English, it didn’t teach him how to play an instrument. To overcome this obstacle, Lerocque enlisted the help of producer Matthias Hillebrand-Gonzalez, who became his personal Mr. Miyagi in the arts of songwriting.
