KIN TALA Unveils Debut EP ‘Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost’

KIN TALA’s debut EP “Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost” introduces a fresh and innovative sound that seamlessly blends indie-rock, electronic, and ambient genres. This North West duo has crafted a stunning collection of tracks that mark an effortless evolution of their alternative-indie sound, securing their place as an act to watch. From the airy eclecticism of “Aztecs” to the synth-soaked “Heavy Head” and the indie-rock vibe of “Two Socks,” KIN TALA pushes sonic and thematic boundaries with each track.

The seven-track EP showcases KIN TALA’s ability to create outside-the-box soundscapes while remaining true to indie-rock traditions. Dom, one half of the duo, explains that “NATWWAL” is an expression of their long friendship, drive to make interesting music, and KIN TALA finding itself. The opening track “Aztecs” exemplifies their worldly, bold, and challenging approach, setting the tone for an EP that is rich in diverse influences and samples. Lyrically, Dom uses the EP to express frustrations with societal, historical, and political issues, making for a thought-provoking listening experience.

“Ocean Blues,” the project’s focus track, serves as an ode to honest communities, family, and friends. Shee, the other half of KIN TALA, shares that the track was inspired by Mac Demarco’s “Salad Days” and was written back in 2014. Despite being rerecorded multiple times, they returned to the earliest iteration, capturing the essence of KIN TALA’s formative years. The track’s vibrato and chorus effects create a nostalgic yet fresh sound that resonates deeply with listeners.

Overall, “Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost” is an impactful debut EP that fuses electronic, experimental, and indie atmospheres. KIN TALA, comprised of Dom Rogers and Shee Juma, brings a fresh and progressive approach to songwriting and production. Hailing from Blackpool, they overcame socio-economic challenges to independently learn recording, mixing, and production. Their early tracks received acclaim on BBC Introducing and Radio X, and with this EP, KIN TALA continues to build on their momentum, moving into bold new territory and celebrating life and new beginnings.
