Faye Webster Releases New Single “After the First Kiss” with Medieval-Inspired Music Video

Mere months after the release of her acclaimed album Underdressed at the Symphony, indie singer-songwriter Faye Webster returns with her latest single, “After the First Kiss.” The new track is accompanied by an eccentric, visually stunning music video directed by Kyle Ng of Brain Dead Studios, where Webster takes on a whimsical role as a goblin in the midst of a medieval LARPing (Live Action Role Play) event.

In the video, Webster—her face painted green like a goblin—serenades the audience while surrounded by knights, centaurs, and ogres, all partaking in an epic fantasy battle. Her performance, infused with playful fantasy imagery, blends perfectly with the song’s dreamy and introspective vibes. The video offers a unique combination of humor and sincerity, highlighting Webster’s ability to transform unconventional themes into engaging, meaningful art.

“After the First Kiss” follows the release of Underdressed at the Symphony, Webster’s album from earlier this year, which includes standout tracks such as the Lil Yachty collaboration “Lego Ring,” as well as the singles “But Not Kiss,” “Lifetime,” and “Feeling Good Today.” Her previous full-length, I Know I’m Funny Haha, was named one of the best albums of 2021, solidifying Webster’s place as a leading voice in the indie music scene.

In addition to her music, Faye Webster has been an active supporter of important causes, recently contributing to a compilation album benefiting independent abortion providers, alongside artists like David Byrne, Courtney Barnett, and Devo. Earlier this year, she also hosted the inaugural Faye Webster Yo-Yo Invitational, a fun-filled event that brought together 12 of North America’s top yo-yo professionals for a day of friendly competition.
