Ben Scott’s ‘Wilting Flowers’ Explores Love and Letting Go”

Scott’s DIY approach brings a personal touch to the project, with every instrument recorded in his own bedroom over two years. Collaborating with audio engineer Billy Gardena, Scott captures an intimate, fresh sound that stretches the boundaries of indie-folk and alternative rock. Each track carries influences from a wide array of iconic acts like Peach Pit, Adam Melchor, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, and The Flaming Lips, yet Ben’s signature style shines through.

The EP opens with the title track, “Wilting Flowers,” an emotional piece that captures the ache of an unhealthy relationship. Through poignant lyrics, Scott explores the pain of losing oneself in someone else’s expectations and the journey toward reclaiming identity. Following this, “Home, Alone” melds wistful harmonies with dreamy synths and a pedal steel guitar, evoking the feeling of revisiting old memories when returning to a childhood home. This track reflects on the haunting echoes of a past love affair with a blend of indie-folk tones that feels deeply relatable.

“Gentle Hands” adds a unique twist with production inspired by The Flaming Lips, combining lush synths, epic lead guitars, and expressive vocals reminiscent of Anthony Kiedis. This retro-synth indie-pop track is layered and textured, creating an unforgettable sonic experience that feels both modern and nostalgic. “Angela” closes out the EP with a bedroom rock anthem that dives into inner conflicts and the push-pull of an old relationship. As Scott wrestles with regret and fear of loneliness, the song becomes a bittersweet realization of how love can linger even when it hurts.

With Wilting Flowers, Ben Scott carves out a space for himself in the indie scene, drawing listeners in with emotional depth and eclectic influences. Each song reflects the universal experience of heartache and healing, making the EP a resonant and powerful addition to modern indie music.
