Riverside Music TV (RMTV) continues its mission of championing dynamic talent with its latest session, spotlighting the boundary-pushing artistry of Glasgow-based hip-hop force BEMZ. Following a packed 2024 featuring sessions with Callum Beattie, Rhianne Downey, Kyle Falconer, and ILI, RMTV now brings BEMZ to the forefront alongside rising artist Jasper Hodges, delivering powerful in-session performances of DND and Zidane.
In this intimate setting, BEMZ doesn’t just perform—he invites listeners into his world. His acoustic-driven rendition of DND is a raw and passionate reflection on the need for mental space and peace, offering deeper insight into his creative mindset. Meanwhile, Zidane sees him in his element, delivering another commanding performance that showcases his signature blend of sharp lyricism and expressive delivery.
Born in Nigeria and raised in London, BEMZ found his voice in an unexpected place—Stranraer, Scotland. His journey from a teenager navigating a new environment to a breakout hip-hop artist has been nothing short of remarkable. Since debuting in 2020 with his critically acclaimed album Saint of Lost Causes, which earned a nomination for Scottish Album of the Year, he has continued to redefine what it means to be a Scottish rapper.
“A lot of people would look at me and not call me a Scottish rapper, because I don’t have an accent, I wasn’t born here, I don’t look Scottish,” BEMZ shares. “Despite this, I’m still representing Stranraer because that’s where I started my journey—that’s who I am.”
His ever-evolving creative vision has seen him work alongside The Snuts, perform alongside legends like Example and Grandmaster Flash, and make a triumphant debut at TRNSMT Festival 2024. Beyond his own music, he is also dedicated to fostering Scotland’s diverse hip-hop scene, having founded M4 Festival, a celebration of rap, grime, R&B, acoustic, and Afrobeats.
With RMTV continuing to provide an essential platform for emerging and established artists alike, this latest session with BEMZ is another must-watch for music lovers. As he cements his place in the UK music scene, one thing is clear—BEMZ is a name you won’t be forgetting anytime soon
