Asylum 213 Delivers a Crushing New Anthem with “Prolonged Exposure to Delusion”

RVA-based experimental rock collective Asylum 213 is back with a fierce new single, “Prolonged Exposure to Delusion”. Hot on the heels of completing their latest full-length album, Malpracticioner, the band wasted no time diving into new material, recording this explosive track with James Ferrell of The Welcoming at Mountainsize Audio in Asheville, NC.

Blending mathcore, shoegaze, noise, and alternative rock, Asylum 213 creates a sonic landscape that mirrors the turbulent journey of recovery and self-discovery. The track delves into the emotional highs and lows of breaking free from deception, doubt, and self-deprecation—acknowledging the difficulty of confronting one’s own reflection, yet recognizing the necessity of that struggle in the healing process. “It’s not always fun to sit with yourself and really sort out what you see in the mirror,” the band states, but ultimately, the message is clear: pushing through that discomfort leads to something worth fighting for.

For a band that has weathered its own ups and downs over the past six years, “Prolonged Exposure to Delusion” feels deeply personal. Yet, Asylum 213 leaves space for listeners to find their own meaning within the song, allowing it to serve as a reminder of resilience. It’s a track that doesn’t just hit hard musically—it speaks to the relentless pursuit of peace in a world that often feels unrelenting.

Working with James Ferrell proved to be a game-changer for the band, his production elevating their already colossal sound to new heights. Describing the process as a dream come true, the band credits Ferrell’s ability to capture and amplify their raw energy, shaping “Prolonged Exposure to Delusion” into the audible force they envisioned. And while this track offers a glimpse into what’s ahead, Asylum 213 assures fans that there’s much more to come.

As they continue forging their path, Asylum 213 stands firm in their uncompromising artistry, brotherhood, and devotion to their craft. “We love you, and we hope this song recharges your heart even where virtually everything sucks right now.” And with “Prolonged Exposure to Delusion,” they do exactly that—delivering a cathartic, electrifying experience that demands to be felt.
