Joe Galuszka Releases Powerful New Single “Liberation”

British composer, conductor, and performer Joe Galuszka unveils his latest single, Liberation, the second track from his debut EP Fractures. The composition is a moving meditation on freedom, resilience, and the personal and historical legacies that shape us, inspired by a 2019 trip to Auschwitz with his father — some 40 years after his grandfather, a Polish soldier, fled the camp during World War II.

“Liberation” reflects memory, ancestry, and loss while evolving into a broader reflection on overcoming life’s struggles. Recorded with the Bristol Ensemble at St George’s Bristol, featuring Galuszka on piano, the track blends cinematic orchestration with intimate performance, bringing listeners into a space of emotional depth and reflection. The music video, directed by ex-BBC NHU director Giles Pitman, complements the single’s powerful storytelling, while mixing by Alex Garden (Tarran) and mastering by Nick Cooke (Ramin Djawadi, Kate Rusby, Hans Zimmer) ensures a rich, immersive sonic experience.

Galuszka, a self-taught pianist and accomplished timpanist, has performed with the UK’s top brass bands, including the world top-10 Tredegar Band and Flowers Band, and at leading venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Canterbury Cathedral, Symphony Hall Birmingham, and Leeds Town Hall. His work spans brass, wind, chamber, and media compositions, with accolades including Bronze at the Global Music Awards and Gold at the London Independent Film Awards for his wildlife documentary soundtrack Firekeepers of Kakadu.

Fractures is a deeply personal project dedicated to Galuszka’s late mother, grandparents, and the city of Bristol. Beyond musical expression, the EP is envisioned as part of an outreach, educational, and health initiative — offering listeners a space to process emotion, reflect, and find resilience through music. Tracks from Fractures will be released monthly through June 2026, beginning with “The Quiet Was Loud” and now “Liberation.”
