The Buddyrevelles Return with “The Consolation” EP

Eau Claire-based band The Buddyrevelles has made a triumphant return with the release of their first of three 4-song EPs, “The Consolation.” After more than 15 years, the band, consisting of Aaron Grant (guitar & vocals), Scott Hoch (bass & vocals), and Dan Reinholdt (drums), has reemerged with a soul-stirring musical offering that encapsulates their artistic evolution and enduring passion for creating music.

The Buddyrevelles first made their mark in 1998 with the release of their debut album “September, November” on Motorcoat Records, which introduced audiences to their distinct yet accessible pop sound. Subsequent albums, “American Matador” in 2000 and “Don’t Quit” in 2003, showcased the band’s willingness to experiment with complex song structures while delivering an immersive indie pop experience.

Now, with a wealth of life experiences and a newfound sense of purpose, The Buddyrevelles’ latest EP, “The Consolation,” reflects a remarkable level of growth and musical maturity, while also capturing the youthful energy born from new creations. This release marks the first of three 4-song EPs, each combining newer ideas with pieces that have been marinating for some time, resulting in songs that feel both familiar and innovative.

The EP was engineered and mixed by Aaron at home in Chicago, with Scott recording his vocals and bass parts from his home outside of Milwaukee. This collaborative process has brought a level of maturity to some of the band’s older songs, while simultaneously capturing the vibrant energy emanating from their newer pieces.

“The Consolation” serves as a testament to The Buddyrevelles’ enduring commitment to their craft, offering a captivating blend of melodic layered guitars, vulnerable vocals, taut over-driven bass, and propulsive drumming. The EP portrays a unique landscape of love songs, love lost, and new discoveries, inviting listeners to embark on a musical journey that seamlessly intertwines familiarity with innovation.
