Suki Summer Unveils New Single ‘Marianne’

Suki Summer, the indie-pop artist known for her fusion of bold rock and retro synths, has unveiled her highly anticipated single, ‘Marianne’. The track is a deeply personal reflection on love, inspired by Suki’s fleeting romantic connection during her summer travels across Europe.

‘This song explores my relationship with intimacy and vulnerability,’ shares Suki. ‘I wanted this song to encapsulate the time we spent together which was beautiful and fun but also tainted with a sadness of knowing that when the summer ended so would our time together. The name of the song and subsequently the hook of the chorus ‘Marianne’ I credit to him. He noted my likeness to Marianne from one of his favourite books ‘Normal People’ by Sally Rooney and also pointed out my resemblance to the actress Daisy Edgar Jones who plays Marianne in the TV adaptation. I think it felt so perfect and so sad that our shared love of this book and story, in many ways, also mirrored our reality.’

Critics are already hailing ‘Marianne’ as a standout in Suki’s discography. Her emotionally charged vocals and poetic lyrics have struck a chord with fans, who resonate with its themes of longing and nostalgia. With this release, Suki cements her position as one of the most innovative voices in today’s music scene.

Reflecting on the release, Suki Summer shares, “Sometimes you meet someone and it’s like being able to finally hold onto the side of the pool after treading water for so long…”
