Afro-Fusion singer, songwriter, and composer, Skyy ZNO, shares his debut album ‘ExitUs’. The seven-track project weaves ancestral storytelling with bright vocals exploring messages of resilience, belonging, and unity. The dynamic rhythms cross oceans, centuries, and borders.
Each song seamlessly represents the Diaspora by channelling West Africa’s Afrobeats, America’s Soul, Cuba’s Salsa, the Dominican Republic’s Dembow, and Jamaica’s Reggae. Co-produced by 9-time GRAMMY-winning producer Joe Nicolo (Lauryn Hill/NAS/Billy Joel) and Skyy ZNO, ‘ExitUs’ documents the artist’s physics of survival. Structured as a continuous arc, ‘ExitUs’ moves through:
- Act I, ‘JADE (ExitUs)’
- Act II, ‘A Little Love’
- Act III, ‘Ice Cold World’
- Act IV, ‘Pressure’
- Act V, ‘Coming Home’
- Act VI, ‘B O’
- Act VII, ‘Ascend’.
Skyy ZNO showcases his global appeal with this genre-bending project. The budding star describes ‘ExitUs’ as “One world, one rhythm”. It is an invitation to recognise the Diaspora’s shared experience regardless of flags and languages, honouring the joint inheritance of Africans, Caribbeans, and African Americans. Each song begins with a commanding interlude that captivates you. His sound draws comparisons to the emotional depth of Juice WRLD, the cinematic gravity of The Weeknd, and the creative audacity of Prince.
‘ExitUs’ follows Skyy ZNO’s earlier singles ‘Carol of the Bells’, ‘Ledge’, and ‘Ándale’. With these, he introduced his enchanting sound and has grown a strong appeal with over 300,000+ streams. ‘ExitUs’ expands his discography into a full narrative. The album has drawn support beyond music circles. The Queen Diambi Kabatusuila Tshiyoyo Muata of Congo has lent her endorsement to ‘ExitUs’. She describes it as “a project that traces the African musical odyssey from the continent through the Diaspora”. Her Majesty also noted ‘ExitUs’ as a reminder of the resilience that gave the world Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Salsa, Samba, Gospel, R&B, and Hip Hop all in one album.
‘ExitUs’ is more than a debut album; it is a cultural bridge. With this, Skyy ZNO positions himself as a defining voice for a generation raised with fluid borders, fluent in more than one language of sound. The album closes not with resolution, but with motion forward; a signal that Skyy himself is just getting started.
About Skyy ZNO
Skyy ZNO is a refreshing new voice in Afro-Fusion. The ever-dynamic artist is a genre-fluid singer, songwriter, and composer who has built a sound that refuses to settle into a single lane. Born in the United States and raised in the Dominican Republic, the star had a childhood that was anything but stationary. Moving back and forth throughout his early years, he grew up immersed in a rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and sounds. This upbringing planted the seeds that this young star would become.
Music runs deep in Skyy ZNO’s blood. His great-grandmother was a prolific piano player, and his family tree is filled with producers and artists. One notable relative is his cousin Ab-Liva of The Clipse. Creativity was never a choice for this superstar; it was an inheritance.
Starting out, this prodigy discovered his own voice at the age of seven, recording his very first track for a school maths project. This early introduction to music ignited something that has never been extinguished. By fourteen, the budding star had joined a music group, spending four formative years on stage. Here, he learnt the discipline, the chemistry, and the instincts that only come when performing alongside others. At eighteen, Skyy ZNO stepped out on his own, choosing to build a solo career and a sound that belonged entirely to him.
As he built momentum, Skyy ZNO gained traction in the Caribbean and the United States, a true reflection of his identity. This duality runs straight through his music: across borders, overseas and between genres.
‘ExitUs’ draws inspiration from a rich range of sounds: Afrobeats, Soul, Salsa, Dembow, and Reggae. The trailblazer has built a catalogue that draws comparisons to the spiritual conviction of Bob Marley, the cinematic dynamism of The Weeknd, and the sonic audacity of Prince. The budding star’s visual and creative instincts take cues from Jean-Michel Basquiat and Banksy, with touches of anime. The intricate intentionality and careful curation is tangible!
In 2024, Skyy ZNO and his father co-founded ZNOVerse Entertainment LLC, the label that now anchors his career in partnership with SMN Records, Lightyear Entertainment, and Virgin Music Group. His breakout single ‘Ledge’ has surpassed 200,000 streams on Spotify alone, establishing him as an independent force with genuine global reach. With his debut album ‘ExitUs’, Skyy ZNO arrives as a fully formed artist. This wonder-kid represents the future, with his heritage as the foundation of his art—as the star puts it himself: “One world, one rhythm”.
