Minneapolis pop-metalcore outfit SIFYN is turning up the emotional intensity with their brand-new single “Sew Me Up,” a genre-blending release that explores broken promises, crossed boundaries and the difficult process of putting yourself back together.
The track arrives ahead of the band’s forthcoming five-track EP, Self-Encrypted, due December 4, and builds on the sound introduced with their previous single “Code.” While “Code” explored the instinct to protect someone while ultimately allowing them to find their own path, “Sew Me Up” takes a more confrontational approach to emotional fallout and self-preservation.
Blending the weight of metalcore with alternative-rock textures, emo vulnerability and pop-driven melodies, SIFYN create a sound that can be heavy without losing its immediacy. “Sew Me Up” sits firmly in that space, pairing intensity with a rhythmic pulse that gives the track an accessible edge.
The song centres on the uncomfortable moment of confronting what went wrong while also acknowledging your own role in the damage. Rather than simply pointing fingers, SIFYN use the track to explore what it means to recognise warning signs, accept difficult truths and begin rebuilding.
Founding member and frontman Lukas Magyar explains the mindset behind the song: “People always show their true intentions. I’ve learned over the years not to ignore these signals. Accepting the reality isn’t always easy, but there is plenty to be gained in the discomfort.”
The release follows “Code,” which recently found a home in rotation at Universal Studios: Halloween Horror Nights – Hollywood, giving SIFYN another opportunity to introduce their evolving sound to a wider audience. With “Code” and “Sew Me Up,” the band offers an early look at Self-Encrypted, a project that pushes their genre-blending approach further while leaning into more personal, emotionally direct songwriting.
Founded by former Veil Of Maya member Lukas Magyar, SIFYN first emerged with their 2022 debut Marionette. What began as a creative outlet outside Magyar’s longtime work in heavy music has grown into a full-fledged band built around experimentation, melody, and emotional storytelling.
The current lineup features Lukas Magyar on vocals, guitarists Mike Green and Dustin Korth, bassist and co-writer Derek Sampson, and drummer Avery Frisk. Over the years, the Minneapolis quintet have developed a sound that moves freely between modern alternative rock, metalcore and early-2000s emo. Heavy rhythms, soaring guitars, shimmering electronics and layered vocals are brought together through a polished, futuristic production style, giving SIFYN a sonic identity that refuses to stay inside one genre.
That creative freedom is especially evident on Self-Encrypted. Unlike Marionette, which often used fictional characters to explore pieces of Magyar’s life, the new EP takes a much more direct approach. Across its five tracks, the project examines identity, ideology, dreams, reality, personal agency and relationships with loved ones in crisis, bringing the songwriter closer to the subjects at the heart of the music.
“Sew Me Up” therefore feels like more than another heavy single. It captures SIFYN in a period where the band is becoming increasingly willing to confront uncomfortable experiences head-on, while still leaving enough space for melody, atmosphere and experimentation.
With Self-Encrypted arriving December 4, SIFYN are entering their next phase with a sound that is heavier, more colourful and increasingly personal.
