Singer-songwriter Seth Glier unveils his latest song titled “Finally Home” featuring Crys Matthews. Inspired by an essay by Leah Penniman, a farmer and food justice activist, Seth’s song reflects on the importance of our connection to the soil and the healing power of nature.
In Leah Penniman’s essay, she recounts the story of a young teenager named Dijour Carter, who initially hesitated to step onto the soil at Soulfire Farms due to the fear of getting dirt on his new Air Jordan sneakers. However, when he finally let go of his fear and allowed the soil to touch his bare feet, he experienced a profound sense of connection and belonging. Seth was deeply moved by this story and translated it into the heartfelt and uplifting song, “Finally Home.”

Soulfire Farms, where the essay takes place, is dedicated to healing our relationship with the soil and implementing Afro and indigenous practices to sequester carbon and increase biodiversity. Their regenerative farming methods prioritize both people care and planet care, with programs reaching over 50,000 individuals each year. These programs include farmer training, reparations and land return initiatives, food justice workshops, and more, all aimed at fostering a sustainable and equitable food system.
Seth Glier’s innate curiosity and desire to connect with others are evident in his music. As a cultural diplomat for the US State Department, he has collaborated with musicians worldwide, using his songs as a tool for positive change. He has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Ronnie Spector, James Taylor, and Cyndi Lauper, and has received accolades including five Independent Music Awards and a Grammy nomination for his album “The Next Right Thing.”
