Seán Finn and the Late Bloomers Mesmerize with Hypnotic Funk on “Late Bloomer”

London-based outfit Seán Finn and the Late Bloomers continue their upward trajectory with the release of their fourth single, “Late Bloomer”, which arrived on January 31st. Known for their tuneful melodies and dynamic instrumentation, the group has made a name for themselves across London’s live music scene, frequenting venues like SJQ, Dalston, and Toulouse Lautrec in Kennington.

Originally conceived as a simple guitar ballad, “Late Bloomer” takes on a new life in the hands of Seán Finn and the Late Bloomers. Drawing from the melodic simplicity of a Mac DeMarco crooner and the dreamlike chord progressions reminiscent of Frank Ocean’s Blonde, the track transforms into a hypnotic funk-infused opus. Anchored by lush harmonies, a feverish bassline, and a soaring lead guitar, the song is as mesmerizing as it is addictive.

“This is surely our most commercial track so far!” says frontman Seán Finn. “It was a lot of fun to produce, especially overdubbing the backing vocals and the bouncy synth part. The guitar solo was so much fun to record—Schindler nailed it on the first take, so we just kept it!”

Seán Finn and the Late Bloomers are proving that they’re more than just a London favorite—they’re an act ready to make waves beyond the UK. “Late Bloomer” is a testament to their ability to evolve, captivate, and keep listeners coming back for more.
