Emerging from Melbourne’s vibrant surf-rock scene, Ruby Cannon has released her highly anticipated debut EP, “Ruby and the Cannons.”
The four-track project showcases Ruby’s captivating vocals layered over dazzling instrumentals, seamlessly blending elements of indie, surf-rock, desert, and 70s sounds. From the opening notes of “Call Home” to the final beats of “On The Boulevard,” the EP delivers a bouncy, energetic, and dreamy musical experience.
Penned during the depths of the pandemic and composed using an acoustic guitar, Ruby expresses her excitement about finally releasing music that truly represents her artistic vision. She shares, “These songs are the sound I’ve been trying to find for a long time.” Ruby’s talent has been recognized throughout the year, as she performed at Laneway Festival alongside acclaimed artists Phoebe Bridgers and HAIM in February.
