At just 20 years old, Rob Eberle is already carving out a name for himself as one of pop’s most emotionally resonant storytellers. Originally from Long Island and now based in Los Angeles, the rising singer-songwriter has built a reputation for pairing raw, diary-like lyrics with cinematic, genre-bending soundscapes. His latest single, “LYING WITH THE ENEMY,” marks a bold new chapter—channeling the emotional aftermath of a long-distance relationship into a haunting and powerful sonic confession.
Fresh off performances at SXSW and collaborations with major brands like Coca-Cola, Rob sat down with us to talk about vulnerability, artistic growth, and why staying true to himself will always come before chasing trends.
RM: First of all, Who is Rob Eberle?
Rob: Rob Eberle is a pop singer/songwriter currently based in Los Angeles, CA!
RM: Congratulations on your new single “LYING WITH THE ENEMY”! Can you share the story behind the song and what inspired you to write it?
Rob: Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! This song is incredibly personal to me — it was inspired by a long-distance relationship I was in for two years. Being apart while trying to stay emotionally connected brought out a lot of intense feelings — hope, heartbreak, longing, and everything in between. The relationship has since ended, but writing this song was a way for me to process and preserve those moments we shared, even the bad ones. It’s a piece of my heart, and it means a lot that it resonated with you.
RM: The song captures the emotional fallout of a long-distance relationship and the complexities that arise when an ex re-enters your life. How did you channel those feelings into the lyrics and sound?
Rob: That emotional fallout was very real for me. The song came from a long-distance relationship I was in for two years, and when it ended, there was this mix of grief, confusion, and unfinished conversations still echoing in my head. When my ex re-entered my life, it brought all those feelings rushing back, the what-ifs, the missed moments, and the things left unsaid. I tried to capture that tension in the lyrics by being as honest and unfiltered as possible. Sonically, I leaned into contrast to soft, “intimate” verses that reflect vulnerability, and bigger, more chaotic sections that mirror the emotional overload of seeing someone again after thinking it was over. It was all about making the listener feel like they’re right in the middle of that emotional push and pull.

RM: The production features a dark, cinematic soundscape. What was your vision for the overall sound of “LYING WITH THE ENEMY,” and how did you achieve it?
Rob: The producer of this record, Nick Axel Kauffman, nailed it. He knew exactly what I was going for and made it the song you hear today. The song goes through a wave of emotions but mostly on the angry side and I wanted the production of the song to reflect those feelings.
RM: You’ve had impressive success with your previous work, including your debut EP COLLATERAL DAMAGE. What do you think has contributed to your rapid growth and connection with audiences?
Rob: Definitely my personal life experiences. That EP really was a turning point in my life. I’ve gone through a lot growing up. I was bullied in high school and on top of that my parents were getting divorced. That pulled me into a really dark place and it felt like my guitar or my piano were the only “things” I could turn to for support. Bullying is still a real issue and my ultimate goal with my music is to create a safe space, a STRONG space where people can escape their current realities and use it as an outlet. I turned to music at my lowest and I want to be that muse for other people.
RM: Influences like FINNEAS and Billie Eilish have helped shape your sound. How have these artists impacted your musical style and approach to songwriting?
Rob: Billie and FINNEAS are two of my biggest inspirations and Idols. I love everything they do as a team and individually. They both have inspired me to create “outside the box” and break the industry “norms.”
RM: Your recent performances at SXSW and your collaborations with brands like Coca-Cola show a growing presence in the music scene. How do you navigate these opportunities while staying true to your artistry?
Rob: I am super grateful for any opportunity I get to perform. It’s my favorite part of being an artist. It’s super inspiring to be up there and connect with fans one on one in person rather than on the screen.

RM: With your song “goodbye (to someone you love)” climbing the charts, what has been the response from fans, and how does it feel to see your music gaining traction?
Rob: It’s unreal and unbelievable. I never thought that a song of mine would get to that point so quickly but I am beyond grateful it did. I wrote it with my best friend on the floor of my mom’s living room back home in New York so it’s crazy to see how it has resonated with the world. It has motivated me to keep going and keep creating!
RM: As a young artist from Long Island now based in Los Angeles, how has your move impacted your music and creative process?
Rob: Moving across the country was definitely a challenge but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I was lucky enough to move out here with a really strong support system of musicians, friends and mentors so that made it easier for sure. Moving to a new city for the first time is hard but so inspiring; especially in a city like Los Angeles.
RM: Looking ahead, what are your goals for the rest of 2025? Where do you see your music taking you next?
Rob: TOUR! I would love to continue to play live this year and really create that in person connection with fans. There’s a lot in the works so stay tuned on the tour front…:)
RM: Message to fans and readers?
Rob: You can do anything you set your mind to. It’s a little cliche, but it’s the truth.
With “LYING WITH THE ENEMY,” Rob Eberle continues to prove that vulnerability is his greatest strength. As he navigates the highs and lows of love, loss, and artistic discovery, his music remains a beacon for listeners seeking honesty and emotional depth.
