Rob Lalain, the self-taught multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, is back with a much-anticipated new album titled ‘Life’. This latest project is a profound reflection of Rob’s enduring passion for music and his ability to craft songs that resonate deeply with listeners. Each track on ‘Life’ captures the essence of the human experience, showcasing Rob’s unique talent for blending heartfelt lyrics with evocative melodies.
Over the past year and a half, Rob has been meticulously working on ‘Life,’ infusing it with elements of classic rock and pop, while drawing heavily on his lifelong admiration for The Beatles, particularly Paul McCartney. The album’s sound also echoes the dynamic influences of Oasis, giving it a timeless, melodic quality. In a display of his multi-instrumental prowess, Rob performed all the instruments and vocals on the album, save for two collaborations with Sean Weyers on the tracks ‘Bulletproof’ and ‘You Ain’t The One’. These collaborations mark Rob’s first in over two decades, adding a fresh dimension to his already rich sound.
Rob’s journey towards this album began during the global Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, a period that rekindled his passion for songwriting. The isolation of the lockdown allowed Rob to reconnect with his musical roots, leading to the release of several new songs that year, including “The Lows…”, “She Walks Away”, “Back To The Start”, and “Always There (Just Out Of Sight)”. Inspired by this creative surge, Rob continued to produce new music, collaborating with renowned songwriter Ryan Tedder in 2021 and releasing a series of singles before turning his focus to completing ‘Life’.
The road to ‘Life’ also saw Rob revisiting his musical beginnings with the release of ‘Back To The Start’ in February 2023, an album that combined six new tracks with his previously released singles. This project signaled his official return to the music scene, followed by the release of an updated version of his 1989 single “Drifting Apart (2023)” and three new singles that offer a glimpse into ‘Life’: “Coming Home,” “Never Going to Walk Away from You,” and “Bulletproof.” Having written songs since the age of 12, Rob has consistently preserved his artistic integrity, refusing to sell his music to a record label early in his career. His journey is one driven by a pure love for creating relatable, emotionally rich music, making ‘Life’ not just an album but a culmination of his lifelong dedication to his craft.
