Porcelain Unveils New Single ‘Escape Routes’

Emerging alt-rock band Porcelain returns with their latest single ‘Escape Routes’. Known for their infectious energy and evocative lyricism, the Newcastle-based quartet continues to establish their unique voice in the alternative rock landscape. With Curtis on vocals, Dan on guitar, Adam on bass, and Kane on drums, Porcelain has quickly become a band to watch, earning accolades from Radio X, Generator, and This Feeling while playing shows across the UK.

‘Escape Routes’ showcases a more relaxed, ambient, and spacey side of Porcelain’s sound. The track’s swirling guitar tones and layered, reverb-heavy melodies create an ethereal atmosphere, drawing from the band’s inspirations, including Radiohead, Muse, Pink Floyd, and Tame Impala. This influence is evident in the intricate instrumentation, blending psychedelic, prog, and art rock elements into a cohesive and emotive soundscape.

Frontman Curtis delves into the song’s meaning, reflecting on themes of vulnerability and longing. “The song, perhaps, is about feeling adrift, either from your own self, another person, or another thing, place, or time,” he explains. “When I hear the song, I hear a longing of some kind. It’s a very vulnerable song, one which I was, at first, worried about putting out. The whole ‘blown wide open’ lyric is about being in a state of vulnerability too, and hoping that someone has the humanity to pull you out of it. Although it may not sound like it, the song is about optimism and hope.”

This emotional depth is complemented by Escape Routes’ carefully crafted production. Produced by Lisa Murphy and engineered by Holly Rees at Blank Studios and Production Room, the track’s sound is polished yet retains a raw, authentic edge. The lush instrumentation and Curtis’ introspective vocals create a sense of introspection that invites the listener to lose themselves in the song’s atmospheric textures.

Compared to their previous releases, ‘Escape Routes’ represents an evolution in Porcelain’s musical identity. While the band’s signature gritty energy remains intact, this track leans into a more ambient, reflective style that highlights their versatility and growth as artists. It’s a song that balances melancholy and hope, inviting listeners into its immersive soundscape while resonating on a deeply emotional level.

Porcelain continues to prove that they are a force to be reckoned with in the alternative rock scene. ‘Escape Routes’ is not just a song but an experience—a sonic journey that explores the fragility and resilience of the human spirit. As the band’s profile rises, this track solidifies their place as one of the most exciting acts to emerge in recent years.
