Patricio Anabalon & Silvio Rodríguez

Patricio Anabalón and Silvio Rodríguez Unite for Poetic Single “Danza”

In a rare and historic collaboration, Chilean singer-songwriter Patricio Anabalón has joined forces with the legendary Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodríguez to release “Danza”—a song that transcends generations, blending deep poetic lyricism with rich, evocative instrumentation. This release is further elevated by the contributions of the late Chilean composer and guitarist Javier Farías, whose brilliant composition and production shape the song into an immersive and sophisticated listening experience.

With “Danza,” Anabalón and Rodríguez step into new artistic territory, weaving together a sound that is both deeply rooted in tradition and refreshingly innovative. Rodríguez’s unmistakable voice resonates with emotional weight and storytelling depth, while Farías’ intricate guitar work adds layers of texture and complexity. Farías, known for collaborating with an eclectic range of musicians—including Andy Summers (The Police), Daniel Binelli (Astor Piazzolla’s sextet), jazz virtuoso Mike Stern, and classical guitarist Eliot Fisk—brings a sense of global musical dialogue to the track. His influence forms the sonic backbone of “Danza,” crafting an atmosphere that is both intimate and expansive.

Adding further depth to the composition, the Cuarteto Austral and Chilean percussionist Felipe Candia enrich the song’s rhythmic and harmonic structure, subtly enhancing its poetic essence. Their contributions provide a seamless fusion of folk traditions with contemporary musical sophistication, making “Danza” a standout piece in the genre of the modern “canción de autor” (author’s song).

Beyond its musical brilliance, “Danza” also carries a strong visual and production presence. The single’s art was designed by Eliani Luzardo, a Cuban illustrator whose work captures the song’s essence. Meanwhile, Tomás Pérez handled the recording, with Gonzalo “Chalo” González mastering the final production—ensuring that every note and nuance is preserved with clarity and depth.

At its core, “Danza” is more than just a song—it is a testament to the enduring power of the troubadour tradition. Silvio Rodríguez, a pivotal figure in Latin American folk and protest music, has long been revered for his ability to marry social consciousness with poetic lyricism. His collaboration with Anabalón bridges the past and present, reinforcing the relevance of the Latin American singer-songwriter movement in today’s world.

With “Danza,” Patricio Anabalón delivers not only a stunning musical work but also a deeply felt artistic statement—one that honors tradition while embracing evolution. This release stands as a celebration of Latin American musical heritage and an invitation to listen, reflect, and be moved.
