African-born, Hackney-based Afroswing trailblazers NSG have unveiled their highly anticipated 14-track mixtape, ‘The Big 6.’ The project boasts an all-star lineup of collaborators, including Casisdead, Psycho YP, Jay Bahd, Blanco, Tayc, Murda, Medikal, Jeriq, and Phyno, showcasing NSG’s signature fusion of Afroswing, Rap, and Afrobeats. With fresh, evolved production from in-house executive producers 4Play (known for producing OT Bop), ‘The Big 6’ marks a bold new era for the group, blending their classic vibrant style with introspective depth and genre-defying experimentation.
Following the success of their recent single ‘Venus’ featuring Lyvia—which earned Capital Xtra’s Homegrown Track of the Week and received support from DJ Target, COLORS, Dazed, and Wonderland—NSG returns with their first full-length project since 2023. ‘The Big 6’ is a testament to the group’s growth and versatility, featuring standout moments like the nostalgic collaboration ‘Overnight’ with Brit Award winner Casisdead, who delivers an effortless flow over 80s-inspired production.
The lead single, ‘Honestly,’ features South London rapper Blanco, whose gritty sound and rising status in the Rap space—evidenced by his 2.5 million monthly listeners and recent COLORS freestyle—adds a dynamic edge to the track. Other highlights include ‘Tesco’ featuring Medikal, ‘A.Y.L.B.H.B,’ ‘KALA,’ and ‘Council Flat Boy,’ which channel NSG’s classic, high-energy style, while tracks like ‘Overnight’ and ‘NFA’ featuring Phyno explore a more introspective side.
The mixtape also delivers melodic standouts such as ‘Tell Me’ featuring Tayc, ‘Venus’ featuring Lyvia, ‘Euphoria,’ and ‘Sacrifice,’ adding depth and dynamic range to the collection. ‘The Big 6’ solidifies NSG’s signature sound while pushing creative boundaries, seamlessly blending genres and collaborating with some of the most in-demand artists in the scene.
NSG—short for Never Stop Growing—is a six-member collective (Kruddz, Mxjib, Mojo, OGD, Dope, and Papii Abz) that embodies the pulse of the UK’s dynamic music scene. Hailing from Hackney, East London, the group’s members bring together the richness of their Nigerian and Ghanaian upbringings, creating a unique sound that blends Afro-bashment rhythms with infectious energy.
Since their breakthrough in 2018 with the hit single ‘Options,’ which peaked at No. 7 on the Official UK Charts, NSG has become one of the most influential acts in music today. Their critically acclaimed album ‘Roots’ and subsequent projects, including ‘Area Boyz’ in 2023, have solidified their presence in the global Afroswing movement.
Beyond music, NSG celebrates African culture through ventures like Area Bar, a vibrant nightlife hotspot in Accra, Ghana, which has drawn notable UK artists like Headie One and Stormzy.
‘The Big 6’ delves into themes of brotherhood, passion, and living in the moment, taking listeners on a journey of self-discovery and sonic evolution. The mixtape is a bold declaration that 2025 belongs to NSG, as they continue to elevate their craft and push creative boundaries.
In March, NSG will make history as part of the first-ever Afrobeats crew lineup for the legendary Red Bull Culture Clash, representing Native Sound System alongside Teezee, Spinall, and Pa Salieu.
