Montreal-based indie pop band Marjolaine is thrilled to announce the release of their latest single, “Between Moon and Coffee,” from their upcoming EP “On Shuttles or In Rockets,” set to be released in the fall of 2024. Recorded at Redrum Studio and mixed by esteemed producer Mat LeGuerrier (Elliot Maginot, Afrakite, MAMI), “Between Moon and Coffee” showcases Marjolaine’s signature catchy feel and clean, pared-down guitars, offering an unpretentious reflection on the suspended moments between late-night inspiration and the early hours of the day, where the world is on the brink of returning to its normal rhythm.
Marjolaine St., comprised of five high school friends, shared a common dream of becoming rock stars and played music together. Years later, two of those lasting mates, driven by a mix of motivation and childlike determination, decided to revive their former iconic band from nowhere, Tie and Shorts. However, this revival goes beyond a desperate attempt to recapture their teenage dreams; it represents the intensity and grand ideas of adolescence confronting the paradoxes of “adult life.” Marjolaine’s music takes distorted tunes and strips them down, laying them bare and infusing them with nuance. It transforms a wall of decibels into an intimate encounter with melody. Above all, Marjolaine’s music is an expression of sweetness and goodness.
“With ‘Between Moon and Coffee,’ we wanted to capture that moment of suspension between the night’s sparkle and the impending greyness of the morning,” explains Marjolaine. “It’s a reflection on that time when feverish inspiration strikes, but it’s still too early for the day to fully awaken. We aimed to create a catchy and clean sound that would transport listeners to that delicate space, just minutes away from returning to normal.”
The upcoming EP, “On Shuttles or In Rockets,” promises to be a captivating collection of songs that reflect Marjolaine’s unique musical style and artistic vision. Recorded at Redrum Studio and mixed by Mat LeGuerrier, the EP captures the band’s growth and evolution while staying true to their indie pop roots.
