Electro-goth-punk and disco-metal group Makes My Blood Dance returns with their latest single, “Heavy Metal Armour.” Known for blending cyberpunk, synth-wave, metal, and pop influences, this Brooklyn-based four-piece delivers a sound that’s intense, electrifying, and unlike anything on the scene. “Heavy Metal Armour” promises to take listeners on a thrilling ride with raucous guitars, explosive percussion, and passion-fueled vocals that reflect the raw emotional depth of the song’s lyrics.
The song explores the emotional armor people wear in relationships, especially when life’s pressures threaten to derail the romance. Frontman EV0 shares, “It’s about coming together, making time for each other, and not letting work or obligations take away from the excitement of being with someone. Relationships take effort, and that’s what ‘Heavy Metal Armour’ is about for me.”
Accompanied by a striking music video, the visual narrative portrays two people stuck in the mundane routines of life until a musical and romantic embrace leads them to a dramatic and erotic dance sequence. “It’s a pretty erotic video,” EV0 confesses. “I’m not embarrassed to say so. Jon and I direct and create these videos together, and it’s beautiful to bring these stories to life.”
Makes My Blood Dance was founded by EV0 and lead guitarist/synth player Jon Kristian during a transitional time in their lives. Early in recovery from addiction, the duo blended EV0’s cabaret pop and musical theatre background with Jon Kristian’s passion for technical metal and programming to create their unique sound. The full lineup includes “I Love” Lucy on bass and El “Rat Bastard” Ray Ray on hybrid beats, making their live performances an unforgettable fusion of grit, groove, and danceable energy.
Their tour, “Zer02LGHTSp33d,” has become legendary for transforming venues into rave-like experiences, complete with explosive lighting, theatrics, and intense crowd interaction. “We are the freaks,” says Kristian, embracing the band’s bold and unapologetic spirit.
“Heavy Metal Armour” is part of a series of upcoming releases that dive deep into EV0’s personal struggles, dreams, and confessions. “At the end of the day, I’m a romantic. I love to direct and create music videos that entertain,” EV0 adds. “Jon and I named the band Makes My Blood Dance because that’s the feeling we want people to have – like the thrill of a first kiss, of freedom.”
