Kerry Kenny Band Releases Soulful New Single, “Robert McGee”

The Kerry Kenny Band has unveiled their latest single, “Robert McGee,” a poignant rock blues track that reflects the band’s signature blend of folk and rock influences. The song tells the story of a beloved figure and explores the romantic struggle between an older man who now prefers to be addressed as “Robert” and his love who refuses to let him go.

With evocative lyrics and soulful melodies, “Robert McGee” pays homage to Janis Joplin’s iconic version of Kris Kristofferson’s “Me and Bobby McGee,” while offering a fresh perspective on love, loss, and longing. The track showcases the band’s rich harmonies, intricate guitar work, and heartfelt storytelling, creating an immersive listening experience that resonates deeply with listeners.

“I wanted to create a little homage to ‘Bobby McGee,’” says Kerry Kenny, the band’s lead vocalist and songwriter. “Their relationship seemed idyllic and wonderful in the song, yet it ends without explanation. Who left whom? What was so alluring in Salinas? We’re all left to ponder. ‘Robert McGee’ is my way of exploring those unanswered questions and the emotional landscape of love and loss.”

The Kerry Kenny Band is known for their unique blend of folk, rock, and blues, characterized by rich harmonies, intricate instrumentation, and heartfelt storytelling. Led by Kerry Kenny, the band has built a loyal fanbase with their emotionally resonant music and captivating live performances.
