Following the release of Jonsjooel’s evocative single “Goodbye Ah,” the Berlin-based Finnish artist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist continues to explore the delicate relationship between humanity and nature with his latest track, “Somewhere Else Than Here.” This cinematic piece is a preview of his forthcoming EP, Voices of A First Day. Drawing from his jazz training, Jonsjooel combines brooding piano motifs, ticking percussion, and ethereal vocals to create a soundscape that is both grounded and otherworldly. The track invites listeners into a space of escape—a realm that might exist just beyond our reality or within our quietest moments.
Jonsjooel’s vision for “Somewhere Else Than Here” is to evoke a sense of spiritual dimension. “I imagine the piano pattern being this other dimension of life where the spiritual world is bubbling around,” he explains. This track is the second reveal from, Voices of A First Day, an EP inspired by Robert Lawlor’s book of the same name. Lawlor’s work delves into the harmonious relationship between Australia’s Aboriginal peoples and the earth, offering insights that resonate deeply with Jonsjooel’s own artistic and philosophical exploration. The EP is a homage to nature, weaving themes of harmony and spiritual awareness through its composition.
Following his introspective debut solo album, Lullabies for Younger Self, released in October 2023, Jonsjooel continues to delve into themes of self-care, compassion, and personal growth.
