Emerging alternative pop and electronic singer Zekiizo returns with a vibrant new single titled “Kiss”. Known for her introspective and moody soundscapes, this latest release sees her leaning into something lighter, sassier, and undeniably more playful — a sonic shift that mirrors a period of personal transformation. Fresh off graduating and closing the chapter on a past relationship, Zekiizo channels that mix of excitement and uncertainty into a track that feels as liberating as it is layered. We caught up with the artist to talk about the inspiration behind “Kiss”, navigating independence in music, and what lies ahead in her evolving journey.
RM: First of all, Who is Zekiizo?
Zekiizo: Zekiizo is my artist name that I have been using since I was pretty young. It’s an extension of myself that is heavily curated and involved in who I am as a person. I like to call anything I put out as Zekiizo as an alter ego. People often ask me if Zekiizo is more of a project and if I plan to release under my own name. I’ve thought about that, but Zekiizo is so intertwined in me as a person, I wouldn’t be able to differentiate where I start and Zekiizo ends. There’s a beauty in getting lost, artist versus person.
RM: Congrats on your new Release. What’s the inspiration behind “Kiss”?
Zekiizo: Thank you! My new release is really meant to be a bit of a surprise, considering my other stuff is a lot more down-tempo and darker. It’s really just a fun release that was written in a place of intense transition. I had just graduated, I just got out of a relationship, and I just transitioned out of my “final fantasy” album era. The core of the song is about entering a new relationship after an old one, and just how it can be very exciting to meet someone new, but somewhat monotonous if you aren’t all in. It’s a pretty sassy song.
RM: Can you tell us about your music journey?
Zekiizo: I started producing music when I was young, maybe 15, on GarageBand. Before that, I had grown up playing piano and writing songs on the guitar/ukulele. I think my transition into electronic music has been very natural, considering the type of person I am and how I’ve grown as an artist.

RM: The song deals with the transition between relationships and the complexities involved. How did you decide to express this theme through an upbeat and moody sound?
Zekiizo: Well, the song is supposed to be fun! There are more serious verses, and then the chorus is supposed to be like hot girl fun. I like the contrast between the two. I find myself often between the two all the time, haha.
RM: How do you see your artistic journey evolving in the future, especially after this release?
Zekiizo: I hope it reaches a bigger audience that may like more pop-tempo genres. But after this release, I have more coming up and hope to continue putting out more singles!
RM: As a self-produced artist, what challenges and freedoms do you experience in creating your music independently?
Zekiizo: Honestly, when you are independent, you do everything yourself. Which is amazing and also very hard. You have to have discipline to keep going and to learn. I didn’t have the money and still don’t always want to go to a studio and have someone record me or mix and master, so I learned it myself. I didn’t feel that I found any producers who made songs I wanted to create, so I learned to do it myself. I’ve always had a vision, and I’m very happy to be able to lead my ship in that regard, but it gets difficult, too, of course.

RM: Any Dream Collaborations?
Zekiizo: I can’t think of any that are mainstream, but maybe Earth Eater, Ramsey, Massive Attack, or even Goldfrapp. Love them!!
RM: Any Upcoming projects
Zekiizo: I have some cool singles on the way that I’m excited for. I also just filmed a music video for my next single, so I’m very excited for that.
RM: What message or feeling do you hope listeners take away from “Kiss”?
Zekiizo: It’s okay to be selfish sometimes. Give yourself more grace, and romanticizing is always fun.
RM: Message to fans and Readers
Zekiizo: Thank you for reading this article and your continued support. I am very excited for the journey. Big kiss!
Zekiizo delivers a bold sonic pivot with ‘Kiss’ — a shimmering, self-produced anthem that captures the thrill of new beginnings and the emotional residue of what’s left behind.
