Everything but the Everything’s “A & B Sides Vol. Two” is a Sonic Marvel

Bay Area-based band Everything but the Everything has once again delivered a sonic marvel with their latest release, A & B Sides Vol. Two, an ingeniously addictive two-track single that dropped on June 27. This release is a masterclass in modern alt-punk, showcasing the band’s ability to blend edge, melody, and raw charisma into an unforgettable musical experience.

The A-Side, “Hotshot,” immediately grabs your attention with its punchy melodic guitar intro, setting the stage for what’s to come. As the drums rumble and cymbals shake, the track takes on a life of its own, driven by a rhythm that’s impossible to ignore. Vocalist Sophia Prise steps into the spotlight, commanding every moment with a voice that’s both luscious and assertive. Her emotionally rich performance is captivating, pulling you into the song’s dreamy new-wave aura while the riffs and drums build an irresistible momentum. “Hotshot” is strawberry sweet, sultrily addictive, and a perfect showcase of Everything but Everything’s unique sound.

On the flip side, “Salt” takes a darker, grittier turn. This B-Side track is punk-rock goodness at its finest—dark, fuzzy, and intense. The opening rhythm, with its steady stomping drums and suspenseful guitar lines, creates an atmosphere that’s both haunting and hypnotic. Prise’s vocals take on a more menacing tone, snapping through the lines with a clarion call for war. The song’s intensity grows with each passing moment, pulling you deeper into its shadowy world until you’re completely hooked on its war-mongering vitriol.

Everything but the Everything has crafted a 2-pack masterpiece with A & B Sides Vol. Two, offering a dynamic range of emotions and sounds that showcase the band’s versatility and talent. From the sweet allure of “Hotshot” to the dark, hypnotic pull of “Salt,” this release is a testament to the band’s ability to create music that is both innovative and timeless.
