Following a three-year hiatus from releasing, Eden Cami makes a striking return to the limelight with the release of her latest single ‘If You Want’ ahead of her forthcoming debut EP.
Effortlessly demonstrating her vast musical prowess, ‘If You Want’ embodies a danceable formation, championing passion and perseverance. Ethereal toplines blend seamlessly with pop-tinged melodies whilst a groove-laden bassline teases the single’s expansive, colourful nature. With its lyrics reflecting both English and Arabic, Eden’s vocals make a poignant hold across the airwaves, inspiring introspection and unwavering determination. Inspired by the work of thirteenth-century poet, Rumi, the single comes set to a backdrop of Western percussions with Eastern philosophies, returning to life to prove their continued relevance. Its dynamic arrangement makes for an alluring listen, with elements folding around the single’s soothing backbone, making way for vivid choruses before the track poignantly fades to black.
Diving into the song, she explains, “I’ve always been captivated by poetry, especially how so much meaning can be distilled into just a few lines. The first time I encountered a translation of Rumi’s poem, it was in Arabic, and it immediately resonated with me. It felt like exactly what I needed to hear at that point in my life. Now, as I release this song after a long break, it feels even more relevant. I was excited to discover an English translation of the poem, and somehow, almost magically, the words in both languages seemed to merge effortlessly with a melody that had been playing in my mind for some time.”
Eden Cami is a boundary-pushing artist who currently hails from Berlin. Ignited by a passion for music from a young age, she was initially met with strong resistance from the patriarchal society she was born into. After losing her voice to surgery at eighteen, she slowly found her true voice after relearning her ability to speak. Fighting against the oppression she faced, she joined a classical music choir, and a pop-rock covers outfit and even founded a jazz quartet.
Following a move to Germany in 2014, she spent her time in and out of bands, releasing an eclectic string of releases across her already-established back catalogue. Showcasing her talents, she performed at numerous venues and festivals across Europe before kick-starting her solo career. Releasing her debut single in 2019, she has gone on to move from strength to strength with multiple singles to her name. Looking to make waves in 2025, she gears up to unveil her forthcoming debut EP in 2025.
