Detroit’s Valid shares poignant video for “Places”

Detroit artist Valid is back with a new video for his song “Places”, a track from his recent album ‘Peach Brandy’. While ‘Peach Brandy’ provided a collection of evocative songs that included introspective cuts as well as infectious jams, “Places” falls into the prior category with its poignant, emotive portrait of Valid’s upbringing and origins in Serbia and Detroit. The song acts as a tribute to his roots in Serbia as well as how the city of Detroit shaped him as a man and an artist, and the video expands further upon its themes with footage capturing Valid’s last trip to Belgrade in 2005, as well as current footage in Detroit. It’s a memorable offering that bridges the past and present and highlights Valid’s stellar storytelling abilities.

Valid’s “Places” is a testament to his sharp lyricism and storytelling, as he paints vivid pictures of his past and how it brought him to where he is today. Detroit rapper Valid continues to make waves in the hip-hop scene. After his debut album, ‘Mihajlo’, in 2019, he released the ‘Plum Brandy EP’, which gained traction in Eastern and Southern Europe. Valid formed the duo Bill & Isiah with Stretch Money, whose album has charted on college radio in the U.S. and Canada and received acclaim. A highlight of his career was their freestyle on Eminem’s Shade45, a pivotal moment for Detroit hip-hop. His latest release, the visual for “Places,” enhances the emotional depth of his versatile Peach Brandy LP. Check out the video for “Places” here now.
