Alfreda has once again stepped into the limelight with her latest single, “Frankie,” captivating listeners with her unique blend of old Hollywood glamour and subtle confidence. This London-based artist continues to build on the momentum of her previous releases, including the poignant “Nude,” the spellbinding “Lipstick,” and the powerful chic-pop track “Guest Room.” Together, these songs form the narrative arc of her “Mother’s Makeup” EP. In “Frankie,” Alfreda delves into a rich soundscape that begins with raw, emotional melodies reminiscent of John Lennon’s work, before transforming into a vibrant 70s disco-infused gem. True to her style, the track is both innovative and authentic, showcasing her ability to explore diverse sounds while maintaining her distinct artistic voice.
Alfreda’s creative prowess extends beyond her recordings, as evidenced by her cabaret-inspired residency, “Bedroom Tales,” at the newly revamped House of KOKO, a prominent music hub in London now turned into an exclusive members club. In this intimate setting, Alfreda merges music and cabaret, creating a mesmerizing experience for her audience. The residency has quickly become a highlight of London’s cultural scene, allowing her to further hone her craft and connect with fans on a deeper level. Each performance is a testament to her versatility and commitment to pushing the boundaries of contemporary music, solidifying her place as a compelling and innovative artist.
With critical support from influential publications like Wonderland, Notion, and Clash, Alfreda is rapidly gaining recognition as a rising star in the music world. Her ability to seamlessly blend various musical styles with a touch of cabaret theatrics sets her apart from her contemporaries. As she continues to draw listeners into her captivating world, Alfreda’s artistry shines through, promising a future filled with even more enigmatic and unforgettable creations. Her journey is one of exploration and authenticity, and with “Frankie,” she invites us all to join her on this enchanting ride.
On the release, Alfreda shares, “Frankie is about the time I fell hard for someone (admittedly I hardly knew him), and then once when we bumped into each other he got my name wrong. I took this anecdote and have developed it into a sound bite where I become this ‘Frankie’. I become someone else and give in to everything I believe men want. Frankie is easy. Frankie is a good time girl. Frankie messes around and doesn’t get hurt”.
