Alas de Liona returns with her enchanting new single “Vine Song,” an indie-pop ballad that delves into the emotional complexity of loving the illusion of someone or something to your own detriment. Released on September 6th, “Vine Song” serves as the prelude to her new album Gravity of Gold. With its ethereal melodies and introspective lyrics, “Vine Song” is a poignant reflection on the fragile nature of desire and self-deception, showcasing Alas’s signature style of dreamy soundscapes and deeply personal storytelling.
Alas de Liona’s haunting vocals float over a lush arrangement, drawing listeners into a space where vulnerability meets strength. The song speaks to the universal experience of investing emotionally in a person or idea, only to realize that what you’ve been holding onto may never have been real. This delicate yet powerful theme is woven beautifully into the fabric of the song, making it both relatable and cathartic for anyone who has grappled with the weight of disillusionment.
Gravity of Gold, the 11-track album produced by Rod Jones at Post Electric Studios in Leith, marks a significant chapter in Alas’s artistic evolution. The album blends indie-pop with alt-rock influences, creating a versatile and immersive listening experience that’s both sonically rich and lyrically deep. Much like “Vine Song,” the album promises to take listeners on a journey through emotional landscapes filled with love, loss, and introspection.
Hailing from the Mojave Desert, Alas de Liona’s path to musical discovery began in the heart of Scotland, where she moved to complete her university studies. It was in Edinburgh that her talent for writing eloquent, introspective songs began to flourish. Free from the demands of academia, she embarked on her musical journey, and in late 2020, she recorded her Radio Astronomy EP—a collection of space lullabies and cosmic folktales, also produced by Rod Jones at Post Electric Studios.
With “Vine Song”, Alas de Liona continues to establish herself as an artist capable of merging profound lyricism with captivating, ethereal soundscapes. Fans of indie-pop and alt-rock alike will find themselves drawn to her unique voice and emotional depth.
