Some songs begin with a melody written from scratch. Others start with a sound that refuses to disappear. For Tropical Services, “SOL” comes from one of those rare musical accidents that took years to find its way back into the right hands.
The story behind the track is almost as interesting as the music itself. Fourteen years ago, Tropical Services heard a song on the radio and immediately felt that a tiny piece of it could become something bigger. He connected his stereo to a laptop and recorded roughly five seconds of the sound, convinced that the snippet could eventually become the foundation of an electronic track.
Then it disappeared.
More than a decade later, the sample resurfaced, and suddenly that unfinished idea had another chance. Three years ago, Tropical Services began developing the track that would eventually become “SOL,” turning an old recording into the spark for a completely new chapter in his creative life.
That makes “SOL” feel like more than just another electronic release. It represents the moment a long-forgotten idea helped reignite a passion that had been sitting quietly in the background.
Tropical Services had previously produced beats, mixes, and remixes, but had never completed a full track. Rediscovering the sample changed that. What started as an experiment eventually pushed him to take electronic music production more seriously and build something of his own.
There is something particularly appealing about that journey because it is rooted in persistence. The original recording could easily have remained lost forever. Instead, its return became the catalyst for Tropical Services to finally pursue a creative ambition he had once put aside.
That determination also runs through the story of the producer himself. Born José Marcelo Ibarra Arvizu in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, Tropical Services discovered electronic music at the age of twelve. His interest soon developed into performing after he found a DJ mixer at a garage sale, leading him to play electronic music at birthday parties and other events.
From there, the curiosity expanded. Once he discovered that music could be created using a computer, he began experimenting with production, creating mixes, remixes and beats while continuing to perform.
But turning that passion into a professional career did not happen immediately. As the years passed, music production remained more of a hobby. Three years ago, however, Tropical Services decided he was not ready to let the dream disappear completely. He sold his car to invest in music equipment, giving himself the tools needed to finally develop the project properly.
And that decision eventually led here.
“SOL” therefore carries an interesting sense of history before a listener even presses play. It is the product of a forgotten five-second recording, fourteen years of waiting, a renewed commitment to electronic music, and the determination to finally finish what once began as a fleeting idea.
With its roots in electronic production and an approach shaped by Tropical Services’ long-standing love for the genre, the single introduces an artist whose story is as much about rediscovery as it is about music.
