Four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning and Emmy Award-winning superstar Lizzo has officially unveiled her highly anticipated new album, Bitch, a fearless and empowering body of work that reaffirms her status as one of contemporary pop culture’s most influential voices.
The album marks a defining moment in Lizzo’s career, building upon the confidence and self-assurance that have become hallmarks of her artistry. Drawing inspiration from the iconic declaration “I’m 100% that bitch” from her Diamond-certified smash hit Truth Hurts, the project transforms a once-derogatory term into a celebration of strength, self-worth, and unapologetic individuality.
Speaking on the significance of the album’s title, Lizzo explained: “Reclaiming the word Bitch is power—it’s taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence and unapologetic self-love. So many incredible women in music have used the word positively, from Meredith Brooks to Missy Elliott. It was only fitting to name my album Bitch because it has become my favorite word when using it on my own terms and because I am 100% that bitch.”
Throughout the project, Lizzo delivers a vibrant blend of pop, soul, hip-hop, funk, and R&B influences, creating an album that feels both deeply personal and universally empowering. Among its standout moments is “Sexy Ladies,” a reimagining of the 2005 go-go classic “Sexy Lady” by Washington, D.C. band UCB (Uncalled 4 Band). The track serves as both a tribute to the group’s legacy and a celebration of go-go music as the city commemorates 50 years of its official musical genre.
The album rollout has already produced several notable highlights. Last month, Lizzo released the title track “Bitch,” accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by child. Produced by longtime collaborators Ricky Reed, Blake Slatkin, and Zack Sekoff, the song incorporates elements of Meredith Brooks’ iconic hit while reshaping its message for a new generation.
Earlier in the year, Lizzo introduced fans to “Don’t Make Me Love U,” another standout from the album. The emotionally charged single arrived alongside a compelling visual narrative that depicted the artist confronting and ultimately embracing different versions of herself through reflection, growth, and self-discovery.
Beyond the studio, Lizzo has continued to remind audiences why she remains one of music’s most dynamic performers. Earlier this year, she completed a sold-out residency-style run at the Blue Note Jazz Club locations in Los Angeles and New York, delivering 12 intimate performances that showcased her musicianship and vocal prowess. The acclaimed shows drew praise for highlighting not only her abilities as an entertainer but also her credentials as a skilled and serious musician.
Her live momentum continued with a headline performance at the Houston Rodeo, where she entertained more than 70,000 fans, followed by an appearance at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show in Miami, where she performed “Sexy Ladies” ahead of the event’s streaming debut on Hulu and Disney+.
Away from music, Lizzo’s creative ambitions continue to expand across multiple entertainment platforms. The multi-talented star recently announced her first children’s book, Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin’, scheduled for release on September 8, 2026, through Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. The story follows a young girl and a spirited flute as they embark on a whimsical adventure centered on friendship, belonging, and self-expression.
Lizzo is also set to portray pioneering gospel singer and rock-and-roll trailblazer Sister Rosetta Tharpe in the upcoming film Rosetta, further expanding her growing résumé as an actress. Her recent appearance on The Roast of Kevin Hart additionally highlighted her versatility across music, television, comedy, and film.
With Bitch, Lizzo delivers more than just a new album—she presents a bold manifesto of self-love, empowerment, and artistic freedom. Combining infectious music with an unwavering message of confidence, the project further cements her place among the defining artists of her generation while opening an exciting new chapter in an already remarkable career.
