Olivia Dean MOBO 2026

Olivia Dean Dominates 2026 MOBO Awards with Triple Win

British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean emerged as the standout star of the 2026 MOBO Awards, securing three major trophies at the ceremony’s 30th anniversary celebration held at the Co-op Live arena on Thursday night.

Dean took home the awards for Best Female Act, Album of the Year for her sophomore record The Art of Loving, and Song of the Year for her chart-topping single “Man I Need.” The victories mark a continued hot streak for the London-born artist, who earlier this month swept four categories at the BRIT Awards.

The 27-year-old delivered a poised and graceful acceptance moment for Best Female Act, radiating confidence as she stepped into the spotlight amid cheers from the audience. Her performance throughout the evening, including a captivating live rendition of “A Couple Minutes,” further highlighted her stage presence and vocal prowess.

In her emotional speech while accepting one of the trophies — her third of the night — Dean dedicated the win to her late mother and auntie, describing them as the women who shaped her into the person she is today. “I just wanted to dedicate this to my mum and my auntie, who made me the woman I am today. I love you guys,” she shared, drawing heartfelt reactions from the crowd. The moment underscored themes of resilience, family, and personal growth that resonate deeply in her music.

The Art of Loving, Dean’s critically acclaimed second album, explores love, identity, and connection with soulful introspection and infectious melodies. It beat out strong competition, including Little Simz’s Lotus and other notable releases. Meanwhile, the anthemic “Man I Need” stood out as the Song of the Year, cementing its status as a breakout hit.

Dean’s success at the MOBOs builds on her breakthrough year, which also included a Grammy win for Best New Artist, where she paid tribute to her immigrant grandparents. Her rising profile reflects a broader moment for British soul and pop talent, blending personal storytelling with broad appeal.

Other winners on the night included Jim Legxacy for Best Male Act, DC3 for Best Newcomer, and Raye for Video of the Year with “Where Is My Husband!”

The MOBO Awards continue to spotlight Black music and culture across the UK and beyond, providing a platform for artists who push creative boundaries. Dean’s triple triumph positions her firmly at the forefront of the current UK music scene, with many already calling 2026 her breakout year.
