Rising rap star Doechii has released the official music video for her track “Anxiety,” delivering a cinematic portrayal of mental turmoil. Directed by James Mackel, the ambitious visual begins with the Florida artist calmly moving through an elegant mansion before descending into chaos featuring SWAT team invasions, kitchen fires, a dancing elephant, and synchronized dancers moving through wreckage – all representing manifestations of anxiety.
The video includes clever nods to Gotye and Kimbra, whose 2012 hit “Somebody That I Used to Know” is sampled in the track. Originally self-released in 2019, “Anxiety” gained new life through TikTok virality and a 2023 interpolation by Sleepy Hallow before its official release this March following sample clearance.
Doechii, named a 2024 XXL Freshman and Top Dawg Entertainment’s first female signee, continues to establish herself as one of music’s most dynamic new artists. The “Anxiety” video marks her latest creative triumph following collaborations with SZA and Isaiah Rashad.
