Zeroz Explores Love and Irony in ‘Star Kill Lovers’

Anime-inspired noise-rock duo Zeroz return with “Star Kill Lovers,” a raw, emo-tinged anthem that pits romantic idealism against modern detachment. Following their Japan and UK tours, the track showcases their signature blend of distorted guitars, pounding percussion, and Cobain-esque whispered vocals—delivered with enough chaotic energy to leap from the speakers.

Thematically, the song explores the tension between classic anime romance (“loving and protecting one person”) and contemporary irony, wrapped in Zeroz’s signature left-field production. Backed by a riotous music video, “Star Kill Lovers” solidifies the duo—frontman Z and drummer Atlas Helicopter—as boundary-pushing alt-rock provocateurs, gearing up for a busy 2025 with their third album on the horizon.

“Star Kill Lovers is about the clash of Romance and Modernity. I’ve always been so inspired by the romances I’ve seen in anime, the idea of loving and protecting one person has always appealed to me–especially in the context of adventure; but modern life is about modular existence, infinite acquisition, and irony: all things diametrically opposed to Romance.”

Zeroz rip through emotional detachment with ‘Star Kill Lovers’, a blistering fusion of anime dream-romance and noise-rock nihilism. With its chaotic sonics and Cobain-channeling vulnerability, the track proves Zeroz aren’t just making music—they’re throwing cultural grenades. This is alt-rock for the disillusioned romantics of a fractured age
