The September Curse Delivers a Cathartic Debut with Self-Titled EP

Emerging artist The September Curse makes a striking first impression with their self-titled debut EP, a six-track emotional odyssey that oscillates between pop-punk rebellion and haunting introspection. Spearheaded by the angst-fueled single “Dream Come True,” the collection serves as a raw, glitter-strewn diary of identity struggles, mental health battles, and the bittersweet pangs of romantic longing.

The September Curse describes the EP as a reflection of their “two never-ending battles: romance and disassociation.” Each song acts as a timestamp, revealing how romance shaped their identity at the time of writing, making the entire project a “time capsule” of a pivotal moment where life felt like it was truly beginning. From the haunting narrative of “Microdosing” to the raw honesty of “this one’s about disassociation.” and the intense emotions of “Idealized Love,” the EP takes listeners on a journey through unrequited love, unmet expectations, and mental health. These themes are visually underscored by the project’s signature bright orange and purple hues, symbolizing contrast and emotional extremes.

To bring this world to life, The September Curse is celebrating the EP’s release with a headline launch show at Bootleggers, Newtown today 23rd May, presented by Qona Creative. The performance marks a major milestone – their first-ever live show with a full band, crafted to capture the sonic magic of the EP and deepen the storytelling experience. “I want the show to feel like a sleepover – candles, posters on the walls, just friends hanging out and telling stories. I’ll be sharing the meaning behind each track and giving the audience a peek into the world that lives behind the lyrics.”

Produced by longtime collaborators Noah Murphy and Callen Batson, the EP thrives on intimate studio moments—”tortilla chips, Quinn the dog, and a whole lot of emotional honesty”—resulting in a sound that’s both polished and deeply personal. The artist’s vision extends beyond the music, with vibrant orange-and-purple visuals symbolizing the duality of their experiences.

The September Curse’s self-titled debut EP is an exhilarating mix of pop-punk energy and haunting introspection. This collection serves as a powerful time capsule of emotional struggle and personal growth, marking an impressive entrance into the music scene.
